The Supreme Law of the land
exists because of the American Revolution. We threw off any and
all political and legal jurisdiction that England and the King thereof
may have
had.
[T]o secure
these rights, governments are
instituted among men, ... whenever any form
of government becomes destructive
of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it,
and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such
principles ...

We "instituted" a new
government to replace the old one that was "destructive" to Life,
Liberty, and Property. The purpose of the new government is to protect
Life, Liberty, and Property. Thus, the purpose of the Supreme Law
of the land is to protect
Life, Liberty, and Property.
The Constitution is the
Supreme Law of the land.
