What is money? My
American Heritage says, among other definitions, that money is,
1. A commodity, such as gold, or an officially issued coin or paper note that is legally established as an exchangeable equivalent of all other commodities, such as goods and services, and is used as a measure of their comparative values on the market. |
The value of any medium
is what consensus agrees it means.
Since money is a symbol, that symbol has the value that all agree
to. The proof of the symbology of
money, the value of money by consensus, can easily be illustrated under
conditions where the faith in the consensus value of the money
is challenged. Imagine a crop failure on a world wide level from,
say, an atomic war or an asteroid strike. You can't eat
gold. You can't eat Federal Reserve Notes.
Barter is not the trade of
goods or
services. Barter is the trade of the labor exerted in raising the
pig, milking the cow, growing the wheat, or making bread. It is
not the trade of the milk for the bread, it is the trade of the
labor. If you milk a cow for me, I'll bake you a loaf of bread.
Money is the symbol of
labor.
That different labor begets different rates of pay is immaterial and
may be put aside. For this example, We will assume that an
individual works a 40 hour work week. This person's pay is fixed
such that at the end of the year, his tax is exactly 25% of his gross
income. In fact, in this example, this person's withholding is
exactly 25% of his payroll period gross income. The reality is
that this person worked for 40 hours and received compensation for
30. The government "took" 25% of his labor. What does the
barter look like in the paragraph above, if we apply a tax of 25% from
this paragraph?
You have milked a cow for me,
and I
have baked a loaf of bread for you. We are about to make a trade
when the IRS shows up to collect. I am forced to give 1 quart of
milk to the government thug since it is the 'income' from my labor of
baking you a loaf of bread. You are forced to chop 1/4 off your
loaf of bread and give it to the government thug, since that is your
'income' from your labor of milking a cow for me. The government
thug claims that this is to redistribute the wealth to the needy lady
at the other end of town, who's husband has abandoned her and her
child. As the government thug is charged to do, he takes the
quart of milk and quarter loaf of bread to the lady. Since he
must be paid for his service, and it's lunch time, he collects his
income by drinking a cup of milk and eating two slices of bread.
He just happens to be passing his office at that time, and he has a
supervisor that must be paid for his labor also.
Anticipating that some will
challenge the trade of goods, I will repeat the above scenario with
only labor itself actually exchanged.
I have spent 30 hours of the
40
hours expected this week to complete the job of putting up your fence
for you. You have spent 30 hours of the 40 hours expected this
week to
complete the job of wet plastering my new home. The government
thug
found out about us. We both have to give him 25% of our labor for
the week. This means we are to work 10 hours each, 20 hours total
for the government thug. We are to repair the fence and the walls
for the poor lady at the other end of town, whose husband abandoned her
and her child. Of the 20 hours we must give the government thug,
4 must be repairing the government thug's home, and 2 must be repairing
the thug's supervisor's home. They both need to be compensated
for their labor as government thugs.
The labor sacrifice in the
last paragraph of Trade & Tax
is mandatory,
or under section 6151 of the Infernal Robbery Code
(IRC) we can be
sentenced to prison. Recall these definitions:
